The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) is an autonomous body. It consists of various academicians and administrative officers. The body is entrusted with conducting various entrance examinations in the state of Karnataka in a fair and transparent manner to make sure that admission is offered purely on the basis of merit. COMEDK conducts many exams including the UGET Exam.

What is the COMEDK UGET Exam?

The Under Graduate Entrance Test is conducted by the COMEDK every year in the month of May to offer admission into various Engineering and Architecture courses. The exam consists of three sections, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, each of 60 marks. It is of a duration of 3 hours and is conducted in two sessions.

Purpose of the COMEDK UGET Exam

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conducts the UGET exam to offer admission into various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in the state of Karnataka. The exam is supposed to serve as a single entry window for different colleges, thus negating the need for conducting multiple entrance exams.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for appearing into the COMEDK UGET 2023 entrance examination is mentioned below:

  • Must have qualified 10+2 or its equivalent examination in Science stream with PCM subjects and English as a compulsory subject with a minimum of 45% marks in PCM taken together (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC Candidates of Karnataka State) from a recognised board.

  • Students who have passed the 10+3 Diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC Candidates of Karnataka State) are also eligible for taking admission into BArch course.

  • All candidates seeking admission into BArch must have qualified NATA or any other equivalent examination.

Note: In the case of Architecture courses, the minimum marks required are 50% in aggregate and 50% in PCM taken together (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC Candidates of Karnataka State)

Registration Process & Fee

The step-by-step registration process for the COMEDK UGET Exam is explained below:

  • Candidates have to first register themselves at the online application portal of the COMEDK

  • After registration, students have to log in to their registered id using their username and password

  • After this, they must select the “Go to application” option

  • They have to select the exam that they are applying for

  •  Students are then required to fill out the detailed application form including their personal details, category details, academic details, etc.

  • Then, students have to upload their documents in the prescribed format and size

  • This is followed by the selection of the examination city preference and payment details

  • After this, students will be redirected to a preview page wherein they must verify all the information provided

  • If all the information is correct, the student must click on the “Submit” button and proceed with the payment

  • Students must take a printout of the application form for future reference

Application Fee

The application fee for the UGET exam is INR 1800. In addition to this, candidates may also have to pay the convenience charge. The students can make the fee payment online using credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

COMEDK Important Exam Guidelines

There are certain things that you must keep a note of while appearing for the exam. These are:

  • Entry into the examination hall will start 60 minutes prior to the beginning of the exam.

  • The candidates must carry the Admit Card, a government-issued ID card and 2 recent passport-size colour photographs with them to the examination hall.

  • No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before the completion of the examination.

  • Candidates must not carry any electronic devices with them such as bluetooth devices, computational devices, mobile phones, etc. to the examination centre.

  • No printed or other textual material is allowed inside the examination hall.

  • Candidates must note that the countdown timer will be displayed at the screening showing the remaining time left for the examination.

  • The question palette can be seen on the right side of the screen. Candidates can use it to navigate through the question paper.

  • A candidate can change his answer as many times as he wishes.

  • Go through the syllabus and previous year’s question papers to acquaint yourself with the syllabus and format of the exam.

  • Prepare a timetable for yourself and stick to it. Make sure that you study each subject every day.

  • Revise regularly to strengthen your stronghold over the subject matter.

  • Attempt as many mock tests as possible to identify the areas for improvement.

  • Do not panic. Even if you haven’t covered the entire syllabus, stay confident in your preparation and calmly attempt the exam.
