University of Calicut was established in 1968 and today ranks 60th among the top universities of India as per the NIRF Ranking 2020-23. The university has been re-accredited as Kerala’s second university with an “A” grade by NAAC that depicts its academic excellence. The University pays stress on extra-currricular activities apart from traditional education. It organizes various fests such as South Zone Inter University Arts Festivals and National Inter University Youth Festivals.
The University of Calicut’s School of Distance Education provides education and learning at a very affordable cost with the aim to uplift society’s underprivileged sections. It offers both conventional and advanced programs of studies and research. To take innovation in education a notch higher, the school of distance education has introduced computerization of examinations, the establishment of smart classrooms for effective learning process, the modernization of laboratories, and frontier lectures by renowned scholars and scientists.
Students’ Portal is meant to help the students to access all the information and online services related to them in a single application. More specifically, it is designed and developed as a simple and intuitive system which shall bring all the online services of students under one roof.
A separate centralised college portal and a departmental portal have been created by the University of Calicut in order to provide all the information related to the college and its specific departments to the students. These portals act as digital platforms that the students can use to fetch any information wherever and whenever they want.
Calicut University organises various guest lectures for the students in order to keep them aware of the happenings in the world. Regular guest lectures are conducted on various crucial topics like Education, Environment, Economy, etc.

University of Calicut has adopted a 5-step application process wherein the students first need to register with the university. After registration, they need to sign in to the portal, choose the course and enter their personal information. Submission of documents and photographs is the next step. Finally, students need to make their payment and send the application to the Director, School of Distance Education.
