Established in the year 1985, Indira Gandhi National Open University is the world’s largest open university. IGNOU’s School of Management Studies began its academic operations in 1987. Over a period of time, it has started offering 14 courses in Management and 13 in Commerce. Furthermore, the schools have a global reach, running many programmes in Africa and Asia.

The university also launched a National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education in December 2005 with the motive to promote entrepreneurship.

The students can enrol in IGNOU distance MBA courses via online mode. They have to fill out a detailed application form, attach requisite documents and make the payment.

IGNOU follows an efficient and advanced “Credit System” for almost all the programmes wherein each credit is equivalent to 30 hours of study. This comprises all the learning activities undertaken by the students. Therefore, a four-credit programme comprises a total of 120 study hours. It is interesting to note here that all the management courses offered at IGNOU are 4 credit programmes with the exception of the project course which is of 8 credits.

IGNOU offers placement assistance through its Campus Placement Cell (CPC). The cell conducts numerous Campus Placement Drives, Recruitment Drives, Job Fairs and Employability Enhancement Activities at their Headquarters, Study Centres, Regional Centres, and Company Premises throughout the year.
