Laying the foundation of the Education Mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning was established in the 1980’s. It is not just a university but a modern Gurukula where a student’s character is as important to imparting knowledge. The university focuses on blending academic learning (secular) with character building (spiritual) to develop a balanced & wholesome personality in the students.
The mission of the university is to make the students professionally sound, spiritually aware, and socially responsible citizens. The university focuses on the Devotional, Cultural, and Intellectual dimensions to make the students socially aware of their surroundings and themselves. It also devotes itself to serving the communities in varied issues and services where students actively participate and learn about their community.
The university focuses to impart skills over theoretical knowledge by inculcating experiential learning. For science students, laboratory sessions are conducted and for the arts & management students, 50% of the weekly class time is dedicated to internalise the concepts studied. This experiential learning is fostered through management games, case studies, group discussions, self feedback exercises and outdoor exercises.
SSIHL being a value-focused university focuses on Devotional & Cultural dimensions by initiating activities like Suprabhatam(prayer at dawn), Bhajans(Sankirtan), vedic chants & stotrams to enable the students to connect to their divine inner self which results in a focused and calm mind. To reinforce unity amongst all faiths, festivals of different religions are celebrated. Other than these, activities in Public Speaking, Performing Arts,Music, Dance, Drama, and Performing Arts are collectively planned and executed by the students.
The university equally focuses on Intellectual dimension so that the students acquire secular and spiritual knowledge. Awareness courses, moral classes, prayer talks, and public speaking are commenced to cultivate knowledge sharing amongst the students and teachers. The Awareness courses help students sensitise to the concerns of the society and make them think practically about these issues.
Inspired by the guidelines of the Founder Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the students and teachers of the university work towards various community services, thus reflecting the spiritual and secular education that they receive at SSSIHL. These services develop the feelings of empathy, social skills and help the students learn better about their community.
SSSIHL right from its inception believes in integrating values and ethics with academic excellence that will develop a secular and spiritual personality in the students. To apply into various programmes at SSSIHL, the candidate needs to create an account by registering at the official website. After choosing the preferred programme, the candidate has to generate the applicant Id number and pay the requisite fee. Lastly, the candidate has to attach the necessary documents.
