Established in the year 1984, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education was founded by Kalvivallal Thiru T.Kalasalingam. It was earlier known as Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering. It obtained the Deemed to be University status in 2006. It is a UGC recognised university and has also received “A” grade by NAAC which demonstrated academic excellence. It is a multi-disciplinary university which pays special attention to research. It is also the first university to offer B. Tech programmes for differently abled students. The university possesses high-end technology to produce advanced research in the field of sciences along with other state-of-the-art facilities. The university also aims to promote entrepreneurial skills amongst the students by creating beneficial industrial and societal connections.
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education focuses on the holistic development of students. Hence, they have collaborated with various industries, such as IBM, TCS, ARAI, SIEMENS, and many others for training and development purposes. Additionally, it has collaborated with various foreign universities in 22 countries for Student Exchange Programmes, collaborative research, foreign language training, and much more.
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education has various clubs and forums to facilitate student’s extra curricular activities. It provides a platform for students to showcase their different skills and interests. They also provide students with networking opportunities through these clubs for career growth. Clubs like the Red Cross Club, Photography Club, Music Club, Nature Club, Aquatics Club, etc., are available at the university.
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education is amongst the renowned universities in Science & Engineering, and it has specialised laboratories to help its students gain practical knowledge. It became the first university to have a specialised laboratory for speech and hearing-impaired students. It has 50 computer labs with 2500+ computers, Speech & Audiology Labs to monitor the speech and hearing skills of the special students.
The Kalasalingam Technology Business Incubator (KTBI) was founded in 2015, with the support of the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board. To strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the incubation has received a 10 lakhs grant under the IEDC scheme.
The centre provides innovative teaching practices and it conducts faculty training programmes for teachers to add value to their teaching skills. It has been made to promote the productive participation of students as well as teachers in the evaluation process. It promotes Project-Based Learning and the usage of niche technology in teaching practices.
The university has tie-ups with many renowned companies, such as IBM, TCS, ARAI, SIEMENS, and many others. This helps the students to understand the nuances of various industries and gain practical skills. It also helps them to land jobs in these industries.
The university provides the opportunity of Semester Abroad Programme (SAP) to its students. The university has tie-ups with Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH), South Korea for this purpose.
The university has signed MoUs with various foreign universities, such as Soongsil University, South Korea; Ball State University, USA; Georgetown University, USA; Tunghai University, Taiwan; Cambridge University, U.K. and many others. This helps the students with global opportunities.
