Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a private deemed-to-be university located in Katpadi, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College by G. Viswanathan. VIT offers various academic programmes, including 40 undergraduate, 37 postgraduate, and 13 integrated programmes. VITEEE is an engineering entrance exam conducted to offer admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in the VIT Group of Institutions. The exam is scheduled between 17 and 23 April 2023 across India and abroad at various designated centres.

What is the VITEEE Exam?

The Vellore Institute of Technology conducts the VITEEE exam annually to provide admission to eligible candidates into various undergraduate engineering courses at participating institutes. With approximately two lakh yearly applicants, VITEEE is a gateway for students aspiring to get into the prestigious VIT engineering programmes. Students who meet the eligibility criteria will be offered admission to BTech programmes at VIT Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility requirements for VITEEE:

  1. Candidates who are Indian nationals, non-resident Indians, persons of Indian origin or overseas citizens of India are eligible to apply for admission.

  2. NRI candidates have the option to apply directly under the ‘NRI Category’ using the NRI application form, available at https://admissions.vit.ac.in/ugnriapplication.

  3. Foreign candidates who have studied or are studying abroad may apply directly through the international application form, which will be available shortly.

  4. Candidates born on or after July 1, 2001, can apply for the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2023. The date of birth mentioned in the High School Certificate will be considered valid. Candidates must carry the original certificate as proof of their age during counselling. Failure to produce the certificate will lead to disqualification from the admission process.

Qualifying Examination

To be eligible for VITEEE 2023, candidates should have completed or be appearing in 2023 for any one of the following qualifying examinations:

  1. The qualifying exams accepted for VITEEE 2023 are the final examinations of the Class 12 system conducted by State Boards, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), and The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi. In addition, candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology in the qualifying examination.

  2. Candidates who belong to the SC/ST community and candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh and the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura should have obtained 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology combined in their qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).

  3. The High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University or the International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office in Geneva is also considered a qualifying examination for VITEEE 2023.

  4. Candidates who have passed the General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level from London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka boards are eligible to apply for VITEEE. Additionally, as per VIT norms, regular National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) candidates are also eligible for VITEEE. However, they must produce the Migration-cum-Transfer Certificate when joining.

  5. Candidates must provide a nativity certificate during counselling. Failing to do so will result in disqualification from the admission process.

Registration Process & Fee

The Vellore Institute of Technology has released the VITEEE 2023 Application Form on its official website vit.ac.in, which can be filled online. Follow the steps mentioned below to complete the application process.

  1. Visit the official website vit.ac.in and select the new registration link for BTech admissions. You will have to register yourself using a valid email id and active mobile phone number. The university will send an OTP to your phone number for verification. After successful verification, your password will be sent to you via email.

  2. Once the registration is complete, you can fill out the application form for VITEEE 2023. You must provide your personal details, educational qualifications, contact information, and details about the qualifying examination. After submitting these details, an application number will be generated.

  3. The application fee for general candidates is INR 1,350 (inclusive of GST), which can be paid online through Netbanking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Paytm.

  4. Candidates must upload their photograph and signature in the format specified by the university.

  5. Candidates should review all the information provided on the VITEEE 2023 application form before submitting it. After verifying the accuracy of the details, they should download and take a printout of the filled-in application form.

VITEEE Slot Booking

Slot booking involves selecting your preferred venue, date, and time for the VITEEE exam. To book a slot for VITEEE 2023, candidates must log in to the Online Test Booking System (OTBS) using their application number and password. Once logged in, candidates must select their desired slots for VITEEE 2023. Since slot booking is done on a first-come-first-serve basis, candidates must complete the process as soon as possible.

VITEEE Admit Card

Admit cards will be available to download once the slot booking process has been completed. The dates for both are yet to be announced by the VIT.
