Applicants can download the NID DAT results 2026 directly from the official website of the National Institute of Design- admissions.nid.edu. You can follow the steps given below for the hassle free downloading the NID DAT scorecard. 

• Visit the official NID admissions website by clicking here  admissions.nid.edu
• Look for the result link: On the homepage, click on the “NID DAT Result 2026” (it might mention B.Des or M.Des result).
• Log in to view your result: Type in your registered email address and DOB or any other details that have been asked for such as your roll number or applicant number. 
• Submit your details: Once you enter the information, your NID DAT Results 2026 will appear on the screen.

What are the factors that influence the NID DAT Cutoff?

There are many factors that can influence how high or low your NID DAT score will be. Here are the most important ones:

• The difficulty level of the test paper is a very important factor. If the paper is tough, the cut-off will be lower since the students may not perform as well. For instance, if the Preliminary test paper is very tough, the cut-off may be 5 to 10% lower than usual.
• The number of students applying for the test is also important. If more students apply, the competition becomes tougher. This means that the cut-off scores will be higher, especially for popular campuses and courses. NID has campuses all over the country, and everyone wants to get into the best campus, so the cut-off can be much higher.
• The number of seats available in each campus is also a factor. Campuses like NID Ahmedabad have fewer seats, so the cut-off is higher. Courses with fewer seats also have a higher cut-off.
• Students belonging to reserved categories such as OBC, SC/ST, and PwD receive some additional points in the cut-off list for the results of NID DAT 2026/

Tie-Breaking Rule for NID DAT Prelims Result

The tie-breaking rule for the NID DAT Prelims is used when two or more candidates get the same total marks in the exam. To determine the order of merit, NID follows these steps one after another. 

Tie-Breaking Rule for NID DAT B.Des Prelims Result

• First, the candidate with higher marks in the DAT Prelims Part B (the Subjective/Descriptive section) is placed higher.
• If there is still a tie, the candidate with higher marks in the DAT Prelims Part A (the Objective section) is ranked higher.
• If the tie continues, the candidate who scored higher in the questions that test design aptitude and creativity is preferred, as judged by NID.

{If the tie is not resolved even after this, NID’s decision is final, and no further appeals are accepted.}

Tie-Breaking Rule for NID DAT M.Des Prelims Result

• The candidate with higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part I or Part III) will be given the higher rank.
• If the marks in DAT Prelims are the same, the candidate with higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part II) will be given the higher rank.
• If the marks in DAT Prelims (Part I, Part II, and Part III) are still the same, both candidates will receive the same rank.

NID B.Des Seat Allotment Process

The NID B.Des Seat Allotment Process is the way seats are given to students who pass the NID DAT Prelims and DAT Mains to join the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program. After the final list of candidates is made, NID B.Des Seat Allotment process starts as follows. 

• Students can select their preferred NID Campus during NID counselling choice filling and locking process.
•  The seats are given depending on various reasons such as NID final rank, their category, seats availability. .
•  After seat allotment, students need to submit the fees before the deadline.  In case, a student is unable to pay the fee then the seat will be allotted to the next eligible candidate. 
•  There could be several rounds in seat allotment, and students can choose as per their preference. 

NID M.Des Seat Allotment Process

The NID M.Des seat allotment process happens after the final NID DAT M.Des results are announced. Candidates who pass the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains are placed on the final merit list, which is based on their performance in the DAT Mains, including the studio test and interview. 

• Those who are eligible need to take part in the online seat allotment and counseling process through the official NID admissions website. 
• During this process, candidates have to choose and lock their preferred NID campuses and M.Des specialisations. Seats are given depending on the candidate’s merit rank, category, available seats, and their chosen preferences. 
• After seat allotment, students need to submit the fees before the deadline.  In case, a student is unable to pay the fee then the seat will be allotted to the next eligible candidate. 
•  There could be several rounds in seat allotment, and students can choose as per their preference.  If a candidate doesn’t confirm the seat on time, it gets canceled and is given to the next eligible candidate.
