The Manipal Academy of Higher Education conducts an online entrance exam called Manipal Entrance Test (MET), for admission into its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The application form for Manipal MET 2023 was released on October 5, 2022, and candidates can submit it until March 15, 2023, for the first attempt. According to the official website, the MET 2023 exam will be conducted only as a centre-based online test. Phase 1 of the exam will be held from April 28 to 30th, 2023, while Phase 2 will be held from May 27 to 28th, 2023.

What is the MET Exam?

Each year Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) conducts the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) in two phases for candidates seeking admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Passing this exam enables candidates to gain admission into several programmes, including BTech, MTech, ME, BPharm, PharmD, MPharm, and BSc Nursing, among others.

Eligibility Criteria

Before filling out the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) 2023 application form, candidates must check if they meet the eligibility criteria set by the university. Only then should they proceed with the application process. The eligibility criteria for MET 2023 are comprised of the following:

  1. To be eligible for MET 2023, candidates must have completed their 10+2 or its equivalent examination such as A Level, IB, or American 12th grade

  2. Candidates must have studied Chemistry, Physics, and English as compulsory subjects.

  3. Candidates must also have an optional subject such as Mathematics, Biotechnology, Biology, or any technical vocational subject. 

  4. They must have secured at least 50% marks in Chemistry, Physics, and any of the aforementioned optional subjects.

  5. To be eligible for PG programmes, candidates must secure a minimum cumulative percentage of 50% marks in their qualifying undergraduate degree.

Registration Process & Fee

To register for MET 2023, follow the following steps:

  1. Go to manipal.edu and click on the “Apply” button
  2. Enter the required personal and contact details, including the candidate’s name, contact number, programme level, and other relevant information.
  3. Upon successful registration, a unique registration ID and password will be generated. Use this ID and password to log in to the portal. 
  4. Complete the application process by providing relevant details such as the preferred course, examination centre, and other necessary information.
  5. As a part of the registration process, candidates must upload all the required documents. 
  6. To complete the registration, applicants must pay the required registration fee.
  7. After entering all the necessary information in the application form, candidates must review and verify the details entered before submitting it.

MET Exam Slot Booking

After completing the MET application process, candidates must proceed with slot booking. Those who have completed all application requirements will receive their OTBS password via email 15 days before the start of MET 2023 for their programme. To book a slot, log in to the Online Test Booking System (OTBS) using the OTBS User Id (application number) and password according to the booking schedule. Candidates can choose a test date/slot from the exam schedule using the OTBS. Slots are allocated on a first-come basis and are subject to availability. Once a slot has been booked, it cannot be changed under any circumstances.

MET Admit Card

Once candidates have booked their test schedule through the online test booking system, they can access their MET admit card (e-hall ticket) within 24 hours. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website of the entrance exam by entering the application form number and online test booking password. The e-hall ticket will also be sent to the candidate’s email address, as the application form mentions.

Counselling Process

Candidates who have qualified the MET 2023 will soon be notified about the dates for the upcoming counselling sessions. The counselling aims to facilitate admission into the BTech courses offered by the participating campuses. During the MET 2023 counselling process, candidates must register and indicate their preferences for courses and campuses in order of priority. In addition, candidates must pay the counselling fee online via net banking, credit card, or debit card.

MET 2023 Cut off

The release of the MET 2023 cutoff will take place a few weeks after the announcement of exam results. The MET 2023 cutoff may vary for different courses and institutes, and candidates are advised to check the website regularly for details on opening and closing ranks of their preferred institutes.

Important Exam Guidelines

The exam will be conducted in three slots, and students must reach the exam centre as per the reporting time. Students must take care of the following while appearing for the exam:

  1. Photo and thumb impressions of candidates will be taken at the examination centre.

  2. Students must take a printout of the MET admit card and bring it to the examination centre. 

  3. Along with the admit card, candidates must also carry a photo ID proof, such as a Driving Licence, Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Passport, etc., which they must show to the invigilator when asked for.

  4. For students appearing for the MET Exam in specific locations outside India, an additional fee must be paid when taking the test at the test centre. 

  5. Candidates can leave the examination centre only after submitting their final exam.

  6. Electronic devices, such as bluetooth devices, microphones, calculators, etc., are strictly prohibited in the test centre. 

  7. After allotting a computer system, candidates should check whether the system provided is working. Candidates should immediately contact the invigilator and report the issue if it is not working.

  8. Rough sheets will be provided in the exam hall. Candidates should not indulge in any usage of unfair means or malpractices regarding the exam under any circumstances.
