Established in 2009, NIIT University was founded by two prominent visionaries Rajendra Singh Pawar and Vijay K Thadani. The university has received various awards, such as University of the Year (North) in 2020, Swachhata Award 2018, ‘Clean, Green & Sustainability Education and Training Award 2016’, Best Infrastructure of the Year in 2017, and many more that validate its academic curriculum and the lifestyle offered by the university. It is a multidisciplinary university that has a special focus on research, startup culture, and also has various industry-linked programmes to help students gain real-time experience and training opportunities.
NIIT University has introduced various resources and a holistic education system for its students. It includes hackathons, writing research papers, conducting industry-relevant research projects, learning from industry experience, and much more. The university pays special emphasis on technology-based education, industry-oriented skills, and research-driven curriculum for long-lasting effect on the lives of its students. The university helps students inculcate entrepreneurship skills. Since the inception of the university, 54 startups have been launched under it, so it is also called the “School of Startups”.
NIIT University is also called ‘School of Startups’. Since its inception they have launched 54 startups. The university aims to build an entrepreneurship mindset amongst the students which help them build and launch new projects.
The university promotes sustainability and thus, it has taken various initiatives since its inception. It claims that during the building of the campus it focused on creating the right balance of Rajasthani architecture and modern technologies which did not impact the environment. Additionally, it has various initiatives, such as Walk-Only Campus, Green Air-Conditioning, implanted Solar Water Heaters, Natural Resource Management Techniques, and much more.
The university has collaborated with various industries to bridge the gap between academics and corporate skills. These industries offer skills of business management and mutual cooperation. These significant industry connections help in various academic activities, such as curriculum creation, industry expert’s lectures, joint research exercises & evaluations, and much more.
Resonance aims to make a smooth transition of new students from school to university by familiarising them with academic and campus life at university. It enables them to get to know their batch mates, seniors, and faculty members. Also, it helps students become self-aware and reflective learners.
The university introduced several clubs and societies for the holistic development of its students. These clubs actively participate in cultural fests and competitions hosted by other universities, and some are the part of Activity Oriented Courses of the university. Long-distance running club, Yoga club, Impetus dance club, Vividha arts club, Verismo music club, Rangmanch theatre club, Cinesta film club, Kavishala poetry club, and NUERC robotic club are some of the most prominent clubs of the university.
