Formerly known as SRM Engineering College, the SRM Institute of Science and Technology was set up in 1985. To develop an academic culture that is driven by industrial and societal needs, the university has equipped itself with a futuristic research infrastructure, including its diverse research centres. Furthermore, the university’s Placement and Career Centre delivers key employability skills and attractive job packages to its students. The university has been accredited with a top-class grade of “A++” from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is offering a few NBA-approved courses to its students.
To deliver modern education to the distant corners of India and the world, the SRM Institute of Science and Technology has instituted an online education platform, managed by the Directorate of Online Education. With the vision to offer extensive education in online programmes, the directorate uses inventive technological tools to provide a smooth and stimulating learning experience to its students. Furthermore, the directorate renders students with current industry experience and rewarding job offers, through its gainful collaborations with key industrial stakeholders. For its dynamic learning experience, the directorate has received essential recognition from the UGC.
To impart an education that is elaborative, applied, and industry-driven, the directorate offers online lectures by key industrial leaders. This is done to apprise students of the emerging requirements of the respective sectors and provide them with a broad practical knowledge base to equip them.
The Directorate of Online Education conducts soft skills programmes for its students to get them placed in distinguished organisations. The placements are offered to both fresh candidates and experienced ones.
The Directorate of Online Education (DOE) offers first-rate education to its students. This is attested by the fact that its MBA and MCA programmes have obtained recognition from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The AICTE is the sole, national-level accreditation agency for technical education.
The directorate has developed the SRM Online Education Query Management System. This is done to deliver an unhindered application and admission process to the candidates, seeking admission to online programmes. The candidate will be provided with quick redressal to their grievances.
For students belonging to the remotest locations, the Directorate of Online Education (DOE) furnishes students with the facility of proctored examination. It aids students to take their exams from their homes if they meet the criteria of the necessary technical requirements.
The directorate aims to offer holistic educational opportunities to students enrolled in online education programmes. For the courses that have a sizable practical component, the directorate makes creative use of technology by inculcating virtual lab courses in the curriculum. The feature of virtual labs reduces the contrast between the online and regular modes of education.

The Directorate of Online Education (DOE) offers applications for admission via online mode only. A candidate has to first register on the official website of the Directorate of Online Education (DOE). The candidate has to then fill the online application form, upload the mentioned documents and pay the application fee via the given medium.
