Directorate of Distance Education, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala

The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) conducts mandatory Personal Contact Programme (PCP) Classes for distance learning students. The classes facilitate in-person interaction between teachers and students and offer appropriate direction to the students. The students are also offered access to the infrastructural facilities of the university. 

To provide an essential practical outlook to the curriculum, the directorate offers industrial training to the students. This is done to deliver holistic education to the students. The students are also offered a choice of a field-based project instead of industrial training.

The directorate offers comprehensive self-learning material to its students. The resources are openly accessible to the students and anyone willing to expand their knowledge base.  

To keep a quality check on the self-learning material delivered to students, the university has set up a Content Development Centre. The centre develops high-quality, extensive material with the help of acclaimed experts and editors.

For timely redressal of the grievances of distance learning students, the directorate has started an online web portal. A student can clear his/her/their queries through the web portal at any time. The directorate also offers toll-free numbers for students regarding their doubts with respect to curriculum and exams. 

In order to uplift the economically deprived sections of society, the directorate endeavours to impart high-quality education at as low a fee as possible.
