Bangalore University was established in 1964 as an offshoot of the University of Mysore. The University was first accredited in 2002 by NAAC with 5-star status and re-accredited in the years 2008 and 2016 with ‘A’ Grade. According to NIRF rankings 2020, Bangalore University stands at 20th position among the top universities in the country. In QS University Ranking: BRICS-2016, Bangalore University ranked at 151st position amongst BRICS nations. The Directorate of Correspondence Courses & Distance Education of Bangalore University was established in 1976. The Directorate offers different courses of study such as undergraduate degrees, post graduate degrees, professional degrees, P.G. diplomas, diploma and certificates courses. It aims to impart quality education to the students at an affordable fee. The University follows innovative teaching and learning methods that are learner-centric and totally skill-based. The University also provides Digital Library Services to its students in order to ease their learning process.

The Directorate of Correspondence Courses & Distance Education, Bangalore University provides Digital Library services through its mobile app. Students can access e-Resources and learning material anytime and anywhere. This ensures a smooth and hassle-free learning process for the students.
As per UGC, Bangalore University has established an Online Grievance Redressal Portal for the students, for redressal of their grievances and ensuring transparency in admission, prevention of unfair practices, etc. Students can lodge complaints related to admission process, non-transparent or any unfair evaluation practices, provision of student amenities, alleged discrimination against students, etc. through the portal.

In order to apply for the Directorate of Correspondence Courses & Distance Education, a student has to personally visit the campus or any of the SBM branches with all the requisite documents. After reaching there, a student has to buy the prospectus and fill-in the detailed application form. The fully-filled form is to be submitted at the office along with all the documents. After this step, the fee is to be paid through a Demand Draft which is payable at the State Bank of India.
