Tezpur University was established in 1994 to provide employment oriented education. It is a multidisciplinary university that focuses on imparting quality education to the students. The university is accredited by NAAC with an “A+” grade, thus, testifying the high quality academics that they offer. The university focuses on building effective human resources. It also aims to reach more and more students with its effective teaching-learning experience.
Tezpur University established the Centre for Distance and Online Education in the year 2011. The Centre has adopted a student-friendly teaching system. The main objective of the centre is to reach out to rural and remote areas, thus, offering a flexible study system. It offers courses in social sciences, management and humanities. These are thoughtfully crafted industry-oriented courses for the students to compete in the global market. The university also updated their study system to offer education that is relevant to the students and caters to the current knowledge base. Additionally, it offers state-of-art facilities to enhance the students’ experience.

Tezpur University offers e-resources to the students such as e-Pathshala, and access to Swayam portal to make their learning process more easy and effective.
In order to facilitate face-to-face interaction and provide academic as well as administrative guidance to the students, the university has established various Learners’ Support Centres.
The Distance Education students have the option to apply for the University’s Annual Convocation to receive their degree along with all the other students.
