Established in 1982 with the vision to embark on a revolution in education, Bharathidasan University is a multidisciplinary state university. To encourage innovative research that spans multiple disciplines, the university houses an effective Research and Development Cell. It is well-equipped with futuristic infrastructure that includes the University Informatics Centre and the University Science Instrumentation Centre. The NAAC has awarded the university a Grade “A+” for its creative intervention in research and teaching.
The Bharathidasan University established the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) to deliver 39 distance education programmes to students who could not afford regular education. The centre offers students e-resources in the form of a question bank to help students test their learning from time to time. Also, the centre provides a web portal for the timely redressal of grievances of the students. For its timely dissemination of education, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) has been granted recognition by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) provides an extensive repository of question banks for different courses. The repository helps students to prepare for the examination in the distance learning mode of education.
The centre provides an online portal for students to submit their examinations.
For quick redressal of complaints of students, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) has started an interactive web portal. The students can file their queries with regard to curriculum, administrative formalities, and examinations on the portal. Further, the students can track the status of their application on the portal and get timely rectification of their queries.
To ease the online admission process for students in distance learning mode, the centre has launched a student support services portal. The students can post their questions regarding admission. Also, the students can ask queries related to examinations, results, issuance of certificates, etc.
The students in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode need counselling from time-to-time counselling. The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) has a network of Learner Support Centres to provide adequate mentoring services to its students.
For admission, the student can directly visit the office of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). Additionally, students can apply for admission by post.
The centre conducts Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes on a regular basis for respective courses. These courses are conducted to bridge the gap between distance and regular modes of education. The subject experts interact in person with the students to offer classes on various course modules.

A candidate can fill the application form by taking a printed form from the PCP Centres. The candidate can also download the form from the website and submit the form in person or via post. The candidate can also fill out the form online, take its print out and send the printed copy along with the requisite documents to the given address via post.
For filling out the online application for admission in distance learning mode, a candidate has to first pay the application fee via online or offline mode. The candidate can then fill in the necessary credentials and upload the scanned copy of the photograph and then submit the application form. The candidate must take the printout of the filled-out application form and send it to the given address via post.
