Founded under the aegis of Bharathi Vidyapeeth, the Bharathi Vidyapeeth Deemed-to-be University is an esteemed, multi-disciplinary university. For the delivery of comprehensive education to distant parts of the country, the university has established the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). The centre houses the School of Distance Education (SDE) and the School of Online Education (SOE) for the fine delivery of distance and online education respectively. Through its dynamic learning management portals, the centre imparts an elaborately designed curriculum for its courses in multiple domains. For effective delivery of distance education, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) of Bharathi Vidyapeeth Deemed-to-be University has set up a learning management platform named Moodle for distance courses and Swayam Platform for online courses. The platform of Moodle offers easy access to resources, such as self-learning materials, assignments, and results, to the students. Through Moodle and Swayam, students can evaluate and ameliorate their academic performances.

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) has a proficient web of ten learner support centres. Equipped with adequate infrastructural facilities, the centres provide varied academic services to the students of distance education programmes to ease the learning process for them. The centres house remarkable faculty who provide academic assistance and essential counselling to its students.

For the benefit of its students, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) organises Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) to mentor them onto their right career paths. Also, these classes are conducted through an online platform so that students can actively attend them from anywhere around the world. Also, these classes are deliberately scheduled on holidays for the convenience of working professionals.

In distance learning mode, students are usually on their own when it comes to their scholastic performance. To support students and furnish them with better learning experiences, the centre has instituted an Academic Coordination Unit for each course. The unit is responsible for updating the respective course curriculum from time to time. Other than that, it also assesses the performance of the students on a regular basis.
